Alic Constructions – ISN Psychology College – Lecture Rm
Working with Alic Constructions, KSDesigns created and installed an Audio / Video system during a new fitout for ISN Psychology College’s new premises. While reviewing ISN College’s requirements, the specifications evolved from a simple 2 channel / 1080p A/V system into a surround 5.1 channel / 4K A/V system.
We faced some challenges particularly with the video system but needless to say, KSDesigns delivered the project on time, on budget, and to specification.
The system consists of an Integra A/V controller for the 5.1ch surround and a Symetrix DSP preamplifier/mixer to seamlessly integrate the main(microphone) audio channels with the 5.1ch surround.
Audio reproduction is handled by Fohhn directional column speakers for the front mains, refined Void speakers for the centre and surrounds, and an active REL home theatre sub for the LFE channel. Digital amplification from Powersoft provides ample system power and speaker processing.
High quality microphones from Audix/Countryman capture audio signals from the lectern and radio microphones, which allow lecturers to move freely during class. Assistive listening requirements is handled by a Listen Technologies wi-fi server.
A simple and powerful FSR Flex control system manages the A/V system via a touch panel with programming designed for ease of use. Finally, a Symetrix wall panel remote controls microphone input settings.
The end result is an audio system that reproduces live or recorded sounds with clarity and transparency that is both effortless and powerful at every seat in the lecture room.
4K video is beautifully projected by a Vivitek 4K large venue laser projector mounted in a Screen Technics motorised projector lifter. The video image is 170inches(diagonal) in size and produces very high quality video images.
There is no physical screen used and ‘screen paint’ is used in lieu to simplify the installation while still providing the required video performance.
Blustream equipment is utilised for matrix switching and HDBaseT video transmission to preserve the 4K video signal.
